Last night I was at the O2 Academy in Birmingham to photograph Frank Turner.
Frank’s come a long way since I last saw him, opening for The Gaslight Anthem in a 500-capacity club. Last year he headlined Wembley Arena. And it’s good to see that his music can appeal to an audience of that size while the carts are so full of throwaway pop music.
He seemed on top form last night and looked like he was having the time of his life up on that stage. And his audience were easily one of the best crowds I’ve seen in a long time. Plenty of singing along, dancing and a lot of smiles on faces.
